Message some decent rear tyres.. I don't know if the AVS intermediates you've got on there are the race version but there is NO comparison between race tyres and road tyres.

You can get Yokohama A032R 275/40/17 road legal race tyres which in theory will hook up a lot earlier than AVS intermediates..

I've tested some well used Toyo RA1 245/50/16 race tyres on my car, and whilst they weren't the *best* for straightline traction (i could still make them let go in 1st - I'm attirbuting that more to being well used than anything else and that I never really had a chance to get them warmed up properly), they were stickier than my brand new Toyo T1S 265/40/17 tyres I've put on there now even given the smaller size.

Using launch control @ 5.5krpm I would get big black marks for a rather long distance.. never measured it but I'm guessing 20m or so on the AVS's on the T1s's I reckon I'm getting half the distance and it hooks up real well.

But both of them pissed all over my AVS S1'zs I had on the car. Simple.

Now I'll reiterate on a good buddies car he had 245/50/16 Brigdestone S02's.. with slightly bigger turbos, pushing around 500+ at the flywheel, he couldn't get the car to hook up till 3rd. Now he ditched those tyres and put on RA1's 255/50(?)/16's... brand new they were unbelievable.. they'd only chirp on a brutal 1st to 2nd shift, and maybe just maybe you'd get a hint of wheelspin in 1st gear, but when they spun they just did it mildly and kept gripping, not like road tyres which let go and you hit the rev limiter.

Also subframe bushings help no end to reduce wheelhop.. if you've got wheelhop, if you haven't this may not greatly enhance your traction.

Finally the Racelogic system.. it will help from the point of view that you're not needing to feather the throttle through 1st/2nd/3rd.. you may still need to feather it a little so you're not constantly using TCS, on mine I am getting some spark breakdown on 1st gear pulls from rest when the tyres are cold and the system is lighting up the whole way through 1st. It may just be a problem with a coil pack or something on my car but I do get a misfire which happens when the tcs turns off, then I have to clutch in rev it, clutch out again a few times to clear its throat. I'm going to have a play when I've got some time with different coil packs, fresh plugs, gap the plugs, failing all that a twin power ignition system. I never used to get it (I've had my racelogic system for 6 months + ) but I think I'm starting to push things a little harder now. Funny thing is I'm not getting the tcs induced misfire up the top in any of the gears which is pointing more towards a coil isn't charging properly or something.

But A032R's are cheap from where you guys come from... only $150ea or so... no question in my mind which way to go!
